Is it just me or do the days and weeks just fly by? If you are anything like me, it seems as though the days, weeks and months go so fast that there is never enough time to do all that we want (and need) to do. There really is no time to waste and there are several reasons why this idea has hit home to me in recent days…

First, it is hard for me to believe that the time to elect our new government officials is upon us. I remember feeling ill equipped to make informed decisions in the last election and swearing that I would do more intentional learning about the major issues confronting our country’s leaders. And now, here we are and the time to cast our votes is almost here. As followers of Christ, we have a particular interest in how our ethical concerns are addressed by government. Beginning this Sunday, September 7th, PBC will be launching a “Faith & Citizenship” sermon series that will help us consider how scripture can help guide our decisions. These nonpartisan sermons will take place during our 11:00am worship service and will be followed by a time of informal dialogue in our fellowship hall. For more detailed information and a listing of sermon topics please see Upcoming Events at http://www.peachtreebaptist.net/news/upcoming/

Another reminder that there is no time to waste came as I realized that this Sunday marks the beginning of another year of our International Program. While most of us take our communication skills for granted, there are many in our community that do not know enough English to perform basic daily activities. There’s no time to waste in helping our neighbors to learn conversational English in order to improve their quality of life. Join Allison Hicks, our International Program Director this Sunday from 4-6 pm for a volunteer meeting in the parlor (2nd floor). Come learn more about how you can be involved in this important ministry.

Finally, there is no time to waste in being the body of Christ in this community. We will gather this Sunday evening at 6 pm in our fellowship hall for a Church Conference and Ice-cream Social. These meetings are important times for all of us to hear and discuss the plans and dreams for Peachtree’s future ministry in this place. There’s no time to waste in being a part of this critical time in the life of our church.

Hope to see you Sunday,

Susan
