Ready or Not…

Whether I’m ready or not, Christmas is coming. It would be nice if the presents were all wrapped, the baking was done and the cards were all addressed, but inevitably there are some things that just will not get done. As ill prepared as I am for some of our Christmas traditions, I am realizing that the inner preparations are of the most importance.

As I sat in worship yesterday morning listening to one of our children playing incredibly beautiful violin music, a sense of peace came over me. I sensed in those moments that what I had done or not done on my to-do list really didn’t matter. What matters is how prepared I am to worship the Christ child when he arrives. How prepared am I to have Christ be born anew in my life? Is there even room for him with all of the craziness of the holiday season?

As we celebrate Christmas in a few days, I hope that you are able to experience the peace that only comes from Christ. I also hope that you will make room for Christ to be born anew in your life. Ready or not, Christmas is coming – let us all prepare ourselves to see and experience the Son of God when he comes.
